You will have to choose an area rug which is maintenance-free but, also, of good quality which will last for a long time. A few tips on how to buy quality area rugs are as follows:

Your room may tend to appear small if you were to choose a dark-colored rug. However, the warmth & cozy look will be enhanced. In case you were to buy a rug of light color, your room will generally tend to appear larger than it really is. Always measure the area where the rug is going to get placed. The general sizes of rugs are 4 by 6, 6 by 9 & 8 by 10. You will have to choose a rug that will be fitting the area where you want it to be placed. The shape of the rug was mostly conventional in the early days & it was always rectangular in shape. But, these days, you can get rugs in different shapes of your desire such as round, square, triangular, octagonal etc, which also provide an extra element of décor to your room. The rug will be a bit long-lasting if the fiber in the area rug is dense. A lot of padding can be seen in some rugs. You can buy a pad & place it under the rug if the rug is found to have insufficient padding. This way, you will avail not just comfort & padding but, also, it delays the wear & tear of the rug. It also absorbs the effect of walking on the rug & makes it easier to vacuum clean it. Reduction of the effect of noise on hard surfaces such as hard wood, tiles & other hard floors can be noticed.

Quality Area Rugs

The price of a rug usually depends on the make of it. Whether it is hand-made or machine-made, whether the fibers used are natural or synthetic, you should purchase a rug that is affordable. So, always check the prices. You will be forced to replace your rug often, if you were to buy a cheap one. You might not use an expensive rug quite too often because of the fear of it getting worn out. So, prefer going in for a medium priced rug of good quality, which would also look & feel good. Area rugs comprise of both hand-made & machine-made. Hand-made rugs are the rugs that are usually more expensive than machine-made rugs. However, there are some machine made rugs that also resemble hand made rugs in appearance. Most of the rugs are made from wool, cotton, silk & nylon. Choose one that suits you. Quality wise, all of them are good. You get a comfortable feel when you touch the soft cotton rugs. Woolen rugs are very durable & provide a lot of warmth & are of good quality. They also resist dust mites. Shiny & beautiful, these are words that are used to describe silk area rugs. They ought to be handled carefully. Nylon rugs are very durable. They can resist stains & are very strong. However, they are not given as much an important thought as silk & the woolen rugs. Unique & exquisite in design, color & shape, you can also buy the Oriental, Persian, Egyptian, & Tibetan Rugs.

You can also buy good quality rugs online too. Be sure to check out sites that provide information about the quality & fiber density of the rug. Browse wisely & choose the best rug available. Using these tips, you will definitely be able to choose an area rug of the best quality for your home.

Things to Know About Conservation of Area Rugs

Area rugs add to the beauty and décor of a room. It is essential to preserve them properly, so that they last long. So, we should know how to conserve area rugs. If they are not preserved properly, they will collect dust and look dirty. The shine and color will fade and this will also spoil the appearance of the room in general.

To keep the home clean, it is good to use rugs outside the house and inside. The rug placed outside will collect the most dust. This will prevent dust from entering the house. The outside rug can be cleaned often.

The top of the rug collects the most dust and dirt. Sand and dust will cut into the carpet fibers and spoil them. Vacuum clean often to get rid of the dust and dirt. Walking without shoes on the area with area rugs will help keep them clean.

Any stains on the carpet will make the carpet look unclean. It will also leave a mark if left for a long time. It is best to pour fresh water on it immediately. This will dilute the stain. Then you can use a paper towel to dry it. If the stain still persists, clean the area with a cleaning solvent. The cleaning solution should be first applied to a cloth. It should then be applied to the outside of the stain and then worked to the center. This will stop the stain from spreading. The cleaner should be applied and the stain should be blotted, then rinsed. This process should be repeated till the stain completely fades away. The solvent should be completely rinsed and the area rug dried thoroughly. If the stain is deep, the quick drying process prevents the stain from up on the surface.

To remove stains, it is better to vacuum clean than use a cloth. It is easier when a vacuum cleaner is used. The products used should be of good quality. The amount of cleaning product and water should be according to the instructions given for cleaning the area rugs. Too much water or shampoo will spoil the rugs. Only when the area rugs are thoroughly dry, should it be placed back in its original position and things placed on it.

The area rugs collect dust, but it is not a good idea to hang the area rug and beat the dust out with a broom. This will spoil the fibers and also not get rid of the dirt completely. The best method, of course, will be to send the area rugs to the carpet cleaners. This will ensure full cleaning and you will get back the area rugs looking and smelling good.

At home, it is necessary to use a vacuum cleaner to get rid of the dirt. The area rugs will also hold odors from your kitchen and the pets. It might have residue of food and oil stains and also food crumbs and pet hair. This will leave a foul smell in the room. All this needs to be cleaned on a regular basis with a vacuum cleaner. A good vacuum cleaner will get all the dirt out without spoiling the area rugs. Oil stains will gradually decay your rugs. The rugs will also lose color and look dull and faded. Steam cleaning is also another option. This is good since chemicals are not used and all the dust mites and other dirt will be taken care of. It leaves the area rugs clean and bright.

Area rugs are best sent to the cleaners once in a while, if they are not too big. Anyway they have to be cleaned at intervals, at home. Only in this manner can area rugs be conserved. For this carpet cleaning equipments can be obtained. Vacuum cleaning and using special cleaning solutions will see to it that the fibers are not damaged and the bright look of the area rugs is maintained.

However the origin from where the wool has been extracted does not directly determine the quality of the wool as well as the rug. The quality of the rugs is actually dependent on the way the rugs are made, the type of the wool which is been used, the design, the style in which it is been made, and above all the quality of the dyes which are used. Quality Area Rugs transform a room

Area rugs hold a lot of fascination for consumers, collectors, and interior decorators. Rugs are no longer limited to the traditional designs we were accustomed to in our childhood days. Currently, area rugs are being designed by new leading designers, architects, and famous fashion designers. Interior design firms have also jumped on board to lend their talent and vision to the creation of attractive carpets.

People are beginning to complain that wall-to-wall carpeting is dull and insipid and mostly seen in neutral colors. With wall-to-wall carpeting, the rooms continue to look empty. It is believed that a carefully selected area rug will add value to all the artwork, furniture, and all other articles in the room without highlighting vacant space.

There cannot be two opinions that area rugs can transform floor space instantly. By using an area rug you can define an area, create false walls, and define hallways. By using different color area rugs you can divide a large room into separate spaces.

There are three general types of area rug available in the market.
Hand-knotted rugs the quality and price of these rugs are determined by the quality of the wool used; the number of knots per square inch; and the wash. Machine made – this type of area rugs is as the name specifies – made by machine and not hand-made. Hand-tufted – this kind of rug consists of yarn forced into a grid followed by an application of latex or fabric backing.

Present day area rugs are typically designed in modern styles, although there is an abundance of patterns to select from. Regardless of your budget, you are sure to find contemporary rugs to fit in with your area rug decorating ideas. Area rugs are fairly easy to maintain and there are many styles, textures, materials and sizes to choose from.

There are three different styles of rugs – Casual Floral, Color and Modern. Casual Floral are said to provide the ambience for a comfortable, relaxed traditional setting. Color rugs are of a bold patterned type that can add spice to your space. Modern rugs are of a trendy style and now widely sold. Persian rugs continue to be rated as the best rugs on earth. The matchless superiority of the Persian rugs are due to their strikingly rich vivid colors, enchanting designs, high knot count resulting in a tighter weave and high quality of materials like wool, silk and dyes.

If it is your intention to transform your room quickly and without spending much, consider using an area rug. An area rug is a brilliant way to instantly warm the room up too. Before buying an area rug, decide what you will use the rug for and how you propose blending the area rug with the existing décor of the room.

You can place a small rug on a tabletop or other elevated area for a unique touch. Framing and hanging area rugs on walls well add a touch of class to your interior. Of course, you can use area rug on the floor in places such as in front of a fireplace or in a small passageway thereby adding a touch of warmth and coziness to the ambience. If you accustomed to changing your room decor often, then choose synthetic rugs — polypropylene or nylon rugs which water proof and UV-resistant. If you are environment-conscious, opt for plant-based fibers such as sisal, jute, and bamboo that are not only biodegradable but made from renewable resources
